about me

Fifteen years of experience providing individual, couples, and family counselling to children, youth and adults seeking to enhance social, emotional and overall well-being.

I hold a Master of Social Work degree from York University, an Honours Bachelor of Social Work degree from Lakehead University and an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Sociology from the University of Toronto. I'm registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and am a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.

My experience includes working with a variety of issues including anxiety and depression, stress, chronic pain, relationship conflict and breakdown, grief and loss, trauma, and process addictions such as problem gambling, gaming and problematic internet use.

I have been a part-time college faculty member, having taught subjects on counselling principles and healing practices. I've also presented at various conferences, both local and national, on such topics as social media, trauma, and youth outreach, specifically as they pertain to problem gambling. Additionally, I have facilitated information sessions and community presentations on topics ranging from problem gambling, child abuse, newcomer youth and mental health. I actively participate and engage in ongoing professional development to enhance my knowledge base and improve my skill sets.

By adopting a client-focused, strength based approach in my practice, I support clients in building self-awareness, improving self-esteem, and enhancing coping skills and resiliency in order to facilitate desired change.

I use a variety of evidence-based therapies such as mindfulness-based practices, solution-focused therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy, to help clients build healthy and enriched lives. My goal is to help individuals develop insight, awareness and acceptance into their thoughts and feelings to live engaged and present lives.
